DRAB-to-FAB saves the Day!

Sherry,  from Drab-to-Fab was in working her magic again.

This beautiful dresser was sold before the paint dried!
When we purchased this piece the mis-matched hardware left indentions in the wood.  Knowing how difficult this piece would have been to completely restore, Sherry just added some bronzy stencilling to cover up the marked wood and touch up some nicks.
She replaced all the hardware with something we had on hand and this dresser had a fab facelift in a couple of hours.
Thanks for the visit Sherry - You Go Girl!

To BAKE or not To Bake - That is the Question. I know the Answer.

Ok - before I show you the pictures.  Here's the story.  I thought I would bring some awesome blueberry muffins to the shop today.  I didn't have time to make them from scratch (I wouldn't know how to begin).

So - I used a mix.  I only had enough for six muffins in my one baking tin, so I thought I would use cupcake cups.  Little did I know that I should double or triple them.

 Now - take a look.
Ooooppssyy!
If you ate them with your eyes closed - you would know, they were YUMMY.

POSH - Oh my GOSH!!

My husband is British and has traveled extensively.  During dinner last night I asked the question, "Where do you think the word POSH came from?".  He responded quite confidently,  ... "The story goes that the more well-to-do passengers on ships travelling between England and India used to have POSH written against their bookings, standing for 'Port Out, Starboard Home' (indicating the more desirable cabins, on the shady side of the ship). Unfortunately, this story did not make its appearance until the 1930s, by which time the term had already been in use for some twenty years. Added to this, the word does not appear to have been recorded in the form 'P.O.S.H.', which would be expected if it had started life as an abbreviation."
???????????
..!!.wow - I didn't see that coming .!!..

Project of the Week by Drab-to-Fab

Sherry, our stager from Drab-to-Fab, came by to help us work on a set this week.
We had a dresser that needed some TLC and a  night stand that we couldn't sell.  She noticed that both pieces had the same legs and similar hardware.  Her thought was that they could work together as a set.  We took off the hardware, sanded them well, then applied a primer to all.

After a couple coats of primer, she applied an extra dark flat brown paint.
Realizing that the hardware is old and would be costly to replace, she decided to scuff up the furniture to make it match the hardware.
A couple light coats of  Polyurethane and - Voila!!
 Brilliant new matching pieces.

Taking the PLUNGE

We're taking the Facebook plunge!
One of my New Year's resolutions was to simplify my life and take on a more relaxed attitude. The plan was to streamline my business(es), bookkeeping, website(s), banking, etc...
It took about a month and a half and I'm about to FAIL.
Facebook is said to be good for business and a fantastic tool used to expand one's customer base by blabbing about your services and/or products.  I've put it off  until now.  I pride myself on managing my website, blog,  ipod and even my mobile phone's camera.  However, this Facebook stuff really intimidates me.
Oh well - Here we go.
I can use all the "fans" I can get.  If you use Facebook, look for me/us as

p.s.  No - those are not my feet, nor my pool!

We miss Spring - BRING IT ON!

The store was closed today.  So, in an effort to get rid of my winter blahs, I went to the mall (a very rare occurrence).  I picked up these cute ballet flats.  They remind me of summer yachting (or what I imagine it to be).  I can't wait for spring, summer and lots of FUN in the SUN!!

It got me in the mood for a clean out the closet type of SALE!!
So I talked the boss into marking down all our long sleeve apparel  - YeSSSSS!!
 It's all on SALE!!
During the month of February our hoodies will be reduced to $27, our long sleeve tees to $22 and our capes will be $39.
  GREAT VALENTINES DAY GIFTS!
Spring, we can't wait -
 BRING IT ON!!

Nothing to do but ENJOY THE SNOW Storm!

Red Rock Rose MASCOT - "REG" Rock Rose!!!

A wicked snow storm has hit Albuquerque.  Temperature highs are about 15 degrees today and the same tomorrow. It's expected to be below 0 degrees tomorrow night.  Way TOOOO COLDD for us SUN lovers!  Most of us are sticking it out indoors if possible, but our canine friends LUV the snow.  At least my sweet boy "Reggie" is enjoying himself!!
